Corn varieties

Maize (Zea) is a plant genus of the Poaceae family.

The plant is annual, 1-3, and sometimes even up to 5 m in height. The leaves are wide. Male stamen flowers are collected in an apical panicle, female pistils - in cobs in leaf axils (such inflorescences). The pods are surrounded by bracts, from the tips of which hang down a tuft of threadlike sprays. The fruit is a large, bare, round grain.
Blooms in July-October. Grains of different varieties differ in shape and color.
