Dotnuva seeds

The Dotnuva Seeds factory, which started operating in 2003, has a capacity of 30,000 tones of seeds per year, under the Dotnuva Seeds brand.

We represent and distribute seeds of cereals, rape, maize, fodder and turf grasses, legumes and cover crops plants from 30 breeders.

Seeds are marketed by AB Linas Agro, the main seed markets are Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. In addition to these countries, seeds are also sold in global market. Part of the activity is multipilication service for partners in the EU.

Seed quality is ensured

Every year, we invest and strengthen our seed preparation capacity. In 2019, we upgraded the line for the preparation of grass seed mixtures, which has improved the quality of our mixes. In 2020, we installed a modern optical sorter that separate seeds of similar size and weight by colour for maximum cleanliness.

The equipment installed in the factory and the management system of technological processes ensure high seed quality. Each shipment of seeds goes through a strict three-level control in the factory's laboratory. Prepared seeds are evaluated by the specialists of the State Plant Breeding Service under the Ministry of Agriculture. Only seeds that meet mandatory quality requirements are issued certificates.

Continuous investment in production

Our current focus is the supply chain – from seeds production to delivery to the customer. In 2021, a new seed warehouse was launched, increasing the storage areas in Dotnuva by 89%. The new warehouse, which has an area of 3,500 square metres, capacity of storage is 2,100 tones of seeds.

Currently, the seed factory in Dotnuva produces around 27,000 tonnes of seed per year, which is around 90% of our total capacity, and we need to increase our production capacity to ensure a smooth supply of certified seeds to our customers.

Therefore, construction of a new seed processing factory is underway in Latvia (Iecava), which will not only meet the demand for certified seeds in the Latvian and Estonian markets, but will also allow them to reach farmers faster.

The factory's capacity will reach 20,000 tons of seeds per year with the possibility of increasing it to 30,000 tons. Seeds of bell and legume crops will be prepared here. The planned storage area is 3,000 sq. m. The seed preparation factory will start operating in 2025.
